Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Maunakea Shared Services, located in Hilo, on the island of Hawaiʻi.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 


MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $4,500 - $5,000/Mon. 


DUTIES:  Under general instructions from the Fiscal Specialist or Administrative Manager, conducts data input into specialized accounting software; reconciles accounts to the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi (RCUH) fiscal data; initiates or approves payments by Authorization for Payment (AFPʻs), purchase orders and journals. Prepares financial documents for budget and expense reports. Maintains numerous logs, scans forms for attachments, processes accounts receivable, prepares deposits, sends information to RCUH or University of Hawaiʻi Foundation (UHF) accounting. Prepares monthly invoices for observatories and Center for Maunakea Stewardship. Research discrepancies and documents corrections. Approves HRAMP actions as backup fiscal authority. 





Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in business, finance, accounting, or related field. (Associate’s Degree and at least two (2) years of experience in an office setting processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, or data entry may substitute for an Bachelor’s Degree.).


One to three (1-3) years of experience in an office setting processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, or data entry using office technology.


Strong knowledge of Word processing, Excel spreadsheets and creating formulas, and data entry. Working knowledge of accounting procedures, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing processes, and journal entries.


Strong ability to use computers and computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Sheets. Ability to comprehend accounting calculations. Ability to apply sound judgement and analysis to fiscal tasks. Ability to work and prioritize multiple deadlines. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Must be able to follow MKSS Driving Safety Policy. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. 


Able to receive goods and occasionally carry up to forty (40) pounds for warehouse deliveries.

Experience with accounting software. Knowledge of accounting internal controls. Knowledge of GAAP principles. Experience working in RCUH/UH fiscal systems. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Access/similar database programs. Knowledge of Maunakea and Center for Maunakea Stewardship/MKSS’s role and able to verbalize both.
