Job Description
Job Summary

Pacific Impact Zone (PIZ) is seeking a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) Architect to lead the design and implementation of open architecture frameworks across our national defense portfolio.

This role requires direct, hands-on MOSA experience—building, implementing, or driving compliance within a real acquisition or program environment. The ideal candidate brings both technical depth (architecture design, interface standards, vendor evaluation) and operational fluency (mission partner engagement, program execution).

The MOSA Architect serves as the primary owner of PIZ’s open architecture efforts, supporting regional and national clients across priority mission areas, including manufacturing and munitions.

  • Lead MOSA efforts across the portfolio from strategy through execution
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability to mission partners
  • Coordinate with internal teams, industry, and program offices to drive implementation
  • Build and maintain relationships at the program office level
Architecture Design & Technical Authority
  • Design and document open architecture frameworks, interface standards, and integration approaches
  • Translate MOSA requirements into actionable technical and contractual guidance
  • Identify gaps between policy and execution; develop practical solutions
  • Evaluate vendor claims and provide technical recommendations
Capability Building & Knowledge Transfer
  • Contribute to internal platform design (including supply chain integration)
  • Document frameworks, decisions, and lessons learned to build organizational capability
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Direct experience contributing to a MOSA framework (program office, contractor, or standards body)
  • Experience owning workstreams and driving outcomes in complex environments
  • Working knowledge of DoDI 5000.88, NDAA MOSA requirements, and related acquisition policy
  • Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred
  • Familiarity with OSA, FACE, SOSA, HOST, or similar standards
  • Experience in logistics modernization, sustainment, or supply chain visibility
Personal Attributes
  • Ownership mindset with accountability for outcomes
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure
  • Pragmatic and execution-focused (implementation over theory)
  • Mission-driven with a connection to Warfighter impact
  • Committed to documentation and knowledge sharing
