Job Description

Job Summary:


Pay Range: $16.49/hr - $23.80/hr

 

Note: Individuals typically begin between the minimum to middle of the pay range


As an active participant on the care team, assists in the population health management and direct patient care to the Medical Center's patients under the direct supervision of a physician or a nurse practitioner.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Active/current Medical Assistant certification or equivalent license.
  2. Candidate must obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers within one year of hire.
  3. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook/Email, and PowerPoint.
  4. Effective written and oral communication skills to discuss accounts receivable management (account status, collection policies, procedures, etc.) with patients, third party payers and clients.
  5. Knowledge of procedure and diagnosis coding, workers' compensation requirements and third party payer requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the implementation of care coordination and nursing duties within the scope of education, knowledge and experience and with appropriate supervision by a physician. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, measuring and recording vital signs, performing routine screening tests, performing basic lab tests and EKGs, preparing and administering medications with physician authorization, and practicing OSHA safety standards.
  2. Utilizes the electronic medical record system to assure complete documentation of the patient's record and care plan; assure that records are accurate and all pertinent info is documented.
  3. Actively participates in the Clinic's quality improvement programs related to efficiencies and effectiveness of care, participates in all quality assurance/control programs.
  4. Maintains exam rooms and nurses' station in a neat and orderly manner. Performs basic maintenance of medical equipment.
  5. Supports front office staff with answering phones, registering patients, scheduling appointments, outbound calls to close gaps in care, etc. as needed.
  6. Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed:
    • Maintain a neat, clean and organized work station.
    • Pleasant phone voice and clear communication.
    • Professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Attend meetings and in-service training as required.
    • Train staff as requested.
    • Assist staff in communication with patients or care givers.
