NATIVE HAWAIIAN STUDENT BASIC NEEDS ACTIVITIES FACILITATOR– ID# 224110.​

Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Title III ANNH Part A Kūloaʻa – Advancing Indigenous Innovators project, located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $4,182 - $5,000/Mon. 

 

DUTIES:  With delegated authority from the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Title III Kūloaʻa Project Director, and in collaboration with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, serves as the primary point of contact for the basic needs activities funded through a supplemental grant award for the Kūloaʻa - Advancing Indigenous Innovators project administered by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education Native Hawaiian Strengthening Institutions Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian (ANNH) Part A grant program. Coordinates the basic needs program for Kapi‘olani students affected by the Maui Wildfire Disaster of 2023. Designs and implements proactive intervention and advising strategies for a caseload of students fostering an institutional climate supportive of students. Provides students with resources to address basic needs and assists students with enrollment and application to access these services. Oversees and trains student peer mentors. Monitors student peer mentor’s hours and approves timesheets via the University of Hawaiʻi Student Employment website (SECE). Assists the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs with designing and implementing the food pantry program by developing partnerships with community agencies, organizations, and UH System committees who support basic needs, roles and functions. Leads the implementation of the Kūloaʻa – Advancing Indigenous Innovators Project Supplement #2 (2023-2024) ANNH Student Basic Needs Component, including implementing project activities, assessment, and reporting. Supports project leads in working collaboratively with campus partners and stakeholders. Oversees the timely delivery of project activities according to the ANNH supplemental award (2023) activities. Assists the Kūloaʻa Project Director with preparing annual performance reports according to the sponsor’s deadline. Requires in-state travel to Maui, one to two (1-2) times per semester. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources (to include CTAHR and Personnel), Communications or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

Three to five (3-5) years of experience in progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Student Support, Counseling, or Human Resources or Communications. Experience working with community organizations and accessing community resources.

KNOWLEDGE

Strong knowledge of Counseling in Higher Education, Student Basic Needs, Supporting Underrepresented Minorities in Higher Education.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Strong ability to provide counseling support to underrepresented minorities in higher education, project coordination (design and implementation), project reporting (data collection and analysis), convening stakeholders across various constituencies internally and externally to an organization. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. 

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS

Able to lift twenty (20) pounds of food pantry items and supplies.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources or Communications. Professional work experience in Higher Education. Knowledge of University organizational structure and functions, policies, procedures and academic programs.
