Job Description
As our Network Administrator, you are responsible for designing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing the company's network and communications infrastructure across its Honolulu operations — including LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, switching/routing, servers, and the NEC VoIP system. In addition to network administration, this role also provides hands-on IT support to end users and specialized operational hardware (Android tablets, laser scanners, thermal printers, and RFID devices), ensuring system reliability, business continuity, and cybersecurity compliance with FDA, USDA, ICCAT, and related regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure — routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VLANs, and structured cabling — ensuring reliable and secure LAN/WAN performance.
- Administer and secure the network perimeter and remote access: firewall rules, VPNs, MFA, endpoint protection, patching, and vulnerability management.
- Monitor network and system performance using monitoring and logging tools; proactively troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, latency, and outage issues.
- Administer Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), including licensing and security.
- Provide administration and support for the NEC VoIP system (phones, call routing, troubleshooting).
- Implement and manage data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent).
- Manage cloud services (Azure / AWS) — identity, storage, and virtual infrastructure — and virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper-V).
- Also provide hands-on IT support: respond to help-desk tickets, set up and repair workstations, printers, and mobile devices, and assist end users with software and account issues.
- Support and troubleshoot specialized operational hardware — Android tablets, laser scanners, thermal printers, and RFID / traceability devices.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, change logs, and IT asset inventory.
- Automate routine administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Coordinate with vendors, ISPs, and service providers for equipment, service, and IT projects.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, ICCAT, HIPAA as applicable); train and support employees on systems and best practices.
