PCSU FINANCE/ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST I – ID# 221341.​ 

 

Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $3,957-$6,000/Mon. 

 

DUTIES:  Monitors project financial status and performs analysis for funding requirements to ensure projects are adequately funded.  Assists the PCSU Director, Principal Investigators (PIs) and PCSU Finance Manager in the coordination of fiscal management needs of the unit by performing financial, budget, data management, and other fiscal staff support services for Federal, State, and University programs as required. This is a progression series job in which the employee will be expected to perform with increasing independence on progressively responsible duties. Quantity and quality of work is expected to increase as levels increase. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Accounting or related field.  (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Accounting or related field and at least four (4) years of accounting experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.).  EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience working with financial statements or accounting, record-keeping, posting, document processing, database and word processing, and spreadsheet applications. Progression from one (1) level to the next is not dependent on “time-in-grade, rather upon employee’s demonstrated abilities, competence, and operational needs.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost principles. Ability to extract information and prepare fiscal reports.  Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of information.  Good communication and analytical skills.  Computer skills to include intermediate level experience in Excel and other MS office applications. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience working in higher education.  Familiarity with UH, RCUH, and UH Foundation reports, policies, and procedures.  Knowledge of government accounting principles and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance.
