Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration from date of hire), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $5,500 - $6,000/Mon.
DUTIES: Coordinates with Principal Investigators (PI) and project leaders to apply for research funding opportunities. Acts as the PCSU point of contact in regards to any enquiries about the proposal development process. Creates and reviews grant narratives, tracks grant applications, and maintains accurate records. Compiles all components of the grant proposal and submits the application according to the deadline. Coordinates and communicates with different agencies and internally at the University of Hawai‘i (UH) to ensure timely processing of awards. Initiates funding extensions when needed. Creates and submits all award modifications and rebudgets. Ensures timely submission of programmatic reports on sponsors grant portals/systems. Ensures compliance with grant requirements (i.e. State, Federal, and County) and with UH administrative procedures. Works with UHF and other nonprofits on contracts, proposals, or cooperative agreements. Participates in meetings with sponsors and communicates relevant information to PIs and project leaders. Maintains contact with UH and stays up to date on any internal and external administrative procedures for the pre-award and award phases of the grant life cycle. Generates reports on the current status of funding and terminating projects, etc. Maintains a tracking system for routing proposals/agreements through College of Natural Sciences (CNS), and Office of Research Services (ORS), and the funding agencies with their project leaders.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Three to five (3-5) years of experience working with grant funding, creating and reviewing grant narratives, tracking grant applications, maintaining accurate records, submitting reports, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient knowledge in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), UH, RCUH, State of Hawai’i and Federal Contract Administration. Experience working in higher education.
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Proficient ability to utilize, understand, analyze, and apply general administrative rules and regulations. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions. Ability to multitask and work under pressure for multiple deadlines. Strong degree of accuracy and attention to detail. High proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access. Good verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. High level of reliability, integrity, and confidentiality. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds of bankers boxes filled with documents or computer equipment unassisted.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with UH, RCUH, and UH Foundation reports, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of the 2 CRF 200, 2 CFR 600, 2 CFR 1103, and 2 CFR 1402 Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance.
