Job Description

Receive, manage inventory of, and pack meals prepared for Lanakila Meals on Wheels Home Delivery program. Transport meals and provide supervision and support to volunteer packers and drivers at designated areas.  Represent Lanakila Meals on Wheels with the highest personal and professional conduct.  May assist with meal deliveries to participants in emergency situations and for volunteer vacation/sick leave.










  1. Assist with daily packaging operations.
  2. Prepare bag route slips and bag labels.
  3. Set up work areas such as tables, racks, carts, meals and cold packs, delivery bags, supplies.
  4. Pack meals for delivery to program participants and unpack returned meals from unsuccessful deliveries with daily report to supervisor.
  5. Conduct frozen meal inventory with Kitchen staff and stock meals in freezer.  Conducts daily and month-end frozen meal inventory.
  6. Smile at and greet all volunteers encountered.
  7. Demonstrate and explain packaging techniques and basic procedures while working with volunteers as instructed by supervisor.
  8. Load and verify shuttled meal routes.
  9. Check bags and match to route sheets to ensure accuracy (quality control); correct discrepancies immediately.
  10. Distribute meal bags and other delivery supplies to designated volunteer drivers.
  11. Assist volunteer drivers with loading their vehicles if needed.
  12. Assist with shuttle deliveries and meal deliveries in the absence of volunteers.
  13. Conduct food temperature checks on out-going meals; record information; report discrepancies to HDS.
  14. Report meal discrepancies and absent volunteer drivers to HDS.
  15.  Adheres to all policies and procedures for drivers and delivery persons.
  16. Check supplies (office; packing; cold food products) daily; submit supply requests to supervisor to ensure there are sufficient supplies in stock.
  17. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Cleans and sanitizes insulated bags, coolers, tables, counters and equipment daily.  Sweeps and mops floors; bags and removes rubbish from work areas at the end of the day.

  1. Thoroughly understands and supports Lanakila’s goals and objectives.
  2. Able to establish good rapport with elderly, other staff members, volunteers and the public.
  3. Performs other related duties as required to achieve program and company’s objectives.
  4. Concern for the physical, mental and social needs of the elderly and persons with disability reports to the HDS for follow up as needed. 
  5. Able to establish good rapport with elderly persons and persons with disabilities.
  6. Participants in department and company activities and assists with these projects as needed.
  7. Adhere to dress code policy.
  8. Attend Lanakila Pacific’s staff and volunteer training program and annual staff conference.






  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Six months recent relevant work experience such as in merchandise receiving and handling in warehouse/distribution environments is desirable.
  3. Must have current TB Clearance (valid within one year)
  4. Must have current State of Hawaii Driver’s license and provide satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  5. Must have access to a licensed vehicle to deliver meals.
  6. Must be able to pass criminal background check.


Skills/ Knowledge/Ability:


  1. Demonstrate ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
