Job Description
Overall Responsibility:

The Parish and School Accountant is responsible for supporting parish and school financial operations by providing accounting support and financial analysis, advice and expertise to ensure the financial health of the parish and school.

Reports to: Business Manager/Head of School/Pastor Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

· Attend Parish Finance Council and/or School Board meetings to provide analysis of financial data to the Pastor/Principal and Finance Council/School Board.

· Ensures proper training and oversight of Office Coordinator or parish/school staff that are assigned duties related to financial operations.

· Accounting Support

a. Process cash receipts and cash disbursements in accounting software.

b. Maintain all bank accounts & Parish and School Revolving Fund Loan accounts.

Includes managing Positive Pay/ACH Block

c. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation, including investment accounts.

d. Assist Pastor/Principal and Parish Finance Council/School Board with preparing and monitoring the annual budget.

e. Prepare all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the parish and auxiliary organizations.

f. Provide analysis of financial data to the Pastor/Principal and Finance Council/School Board.

g. Implement and maintain internal controls.

h. Assist with all external auditors.

i. General Excise Tax preparation.

j. Annual 1099 preparation.

k. Attend required Diocesan training regarding business and finance updates.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; or Business Degree or Associate Degree in Accounting with 5 years of accounting experience; or 10 years accounting experience

· QuickBooks experience preferred

· Must successfully complete Diocesan accounting assessment

· Intermediate level of Microsoft applications required
