Job Description
Position Overview:
The Parking Attendant is a dependable and customer-service-oriented role intended to support operations at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Ho‘okupu Center during events and special programs. This on-call position assists with directing traffic, managing parking flow, greeting guests, and helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors attending events at the Ho‘okupu Center and surrounding areas.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, working outdoors, and supporting community-focused events. Very little prior experience is required, and training will be provided. This is an on-call, event-based position. Work schedules will vary depending on operational and event needs at the Ho‘okupu Center. Hours are not guaranteed and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Position Goals:
- Support event attendees in using the appropriate parking options available to them.
- Decrease situations in which attendees park in stalls unintended for their use.
- Contribute to an overall positive experience for event attendees at the Ho’okupu Center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct oneself with aloha and drive Kupu’s culture.
- Conduct oneself with integrity, credibility, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to Kupu’s mission.
- Serve as a role model for Kupu’s culture, mission, and CHOSEN Values.
- Assist with directing vehicles into designated parking areas during events and programs.
- Help maintain safe and efficient traffic flow around the Ho‘okupu Center and surrounding parking areas.
- Greet guests in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner.
- Provide basic directions and information to event attendees as needed.
- Monitor parking areas to help ensure compliance with event parking procedures.
- Communicate with the Food & Beverage Manager and event staff regarding parking needs or concerns.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown related to parking signage or cones when needed.
- Report safety concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly to supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours based on event schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Kupu, the Ho‘okupu Center, and/or Kewalo Basin and surrounding areas.
- Previous customer service, event support, parking, hospitality, or security experience is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of Kewalo Beach Park and nearby parking/traffic patterns preferred.

- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- Ability to perform work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and uneven terrain.
