Planner and ADA Coordinator

$5,700 - $6,551 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, permanent appointment. The primary purpose of this position is to gather statistics and data on the number and needs of persons with disabilities for planning and funding purposes; to establish a network of support for State and County ADA Coordinators; and to monitor legislation affecting the delivery of services to persons with disabilities.

 

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field relating human services

or rehabilitation counseling.

 

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in research, planning, or data analysis and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in working with State or County government providing access to programs and services to persons with disabilities.

 

Provides technical support for State Departmental ADA Coordinators, (per Governor's Administrative Directive 97-01) and County ADA Coordinators to ensure consistent application of nondiscrimination practices for persons with disabilities through the staffing of departmental ADA Coordinators meetings.

 

Coordinates the dissemination of information to State Departmental and County ADA Coordinators regarding changes or updates in the ADA law, rules, regulations, policy interpretations, and court cases affecting the operation of state programs, services, and employment opportunities through list serves, written correspondence, trainings, workshops or teleconferences.

 

Provides technical assistance to the State Departmental and County ADA Coordinators in the writing, including amendments, of the departmental Self-Evaluation and Transition Plans, and provides technical support in implementing the necessary changes to comply with the Self-Evaluations and Transition Plans.

 

Analyzes legislative proposals for soundness of purpose and need based on existing data; prepares testimony for the Executive Director and the Disability and Communication Access Board on proposals consistent with Board policies and position statements.

 

Serves on community advisory committees to provide input into the development and implementation of programs designed to improve services or enhance access for persons with disabilities in the community.

 

Performs other duties requiring similar services.
