Prep Cook Job Summary
As a Prep Cook at DEAN & DELUCA HAWAII, you are responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality food efficiently while maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and food safety standards. Success in this role requires speed, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to company recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
- Stock, label, date, rotate, and properly store all food products.
- Complete opening, closing, and daily prep tasks, ensuring your station is fully prepared before service.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the Executive Chef or Sous Chef of any shortages or equipment issues.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with food preparation and support team members during slow periods or as needed.
- Attend scheduled meetings and perform additional duties assigned by kitchen leadership.
Qualifications:
- Hawaii Food Handler Permit required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Capable of multitasking and working independently or as part of a team.
Performance Expectations:
- Deliver consistent, high-quality food in a timely manner.
- Follow recipes and procedures exactly.
- Maintain professionalism, efficiency, and a clean work environment.
- Be ready for service at least 15 minutes before opening.
- Work only scheduled hours unless otherwise approved by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
