QHS RESEARCH PROJECT ASSISTANT – ID# 18247

 

John A. Burns School of Medicine.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $2,314-$3,736. 

 

DUTIES:  Provides research and administrative support related to Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) project aims and activities, in compliance with policies and procedures. Provides technical secretarial support to projects related to QHS’s Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Cores.  Performs repetitive and moderately complex technical support services for QHS. Must be able to perform multiple, deadline-oriented tasks, accuracy to detail being essential. Duties include communication with QHS faculty and staff, JABSOM Departments, University of Hawai‘i programs, and community-wide medical centers and institutes to ensure coordination and integration of project activities and services. Assists with phones, email correspondence, mail, meetings and data entry to the QHS project-tracking database. Performs assigned fiscal requirements related to projects, supplies, and travel.  Typing and other duties as assigned. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Secretarial Science, Office Administration or related field.  (High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and at least three (3) years of work experience as a secretary in a clinical environment may substitute for an Associate’s Degree). EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience performing multi-task administrative work, which requires word processing/computer skills.  Past experience to include demonstration of initiative and problem-solving skills.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Working knowledge of computers and word processing software (specifically WordPerfect and/or Microsoft Word for Windows, computer spreadsheets and database software programs).  Knowledge and use of Business English including grammar, spelling, arithmetic, and efficient office procedures. Ability to compose memos independently.  Ability to type accurately at proficient level (60 wpm). Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision. Post Offer/Employment Condition:  Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTSAs a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to the University of Hawai‘i's (John A. Burns School of Medicine) HIPAA/PHI privacy and security policy. Violation of the RCUH's, the UH's, or the business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.). Must complete the University of Hawai‘i's (John A. Burns School of Medicine) HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training immediately after hire or not later than employee’s initial exposure to HIPAA/PHI. Must maintain a current status on the University’s and/or the business entity's training requirements.

 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Working knowledge of UH, RCUH policies and procedures. Research experience.  Knowledge of clinical research, medical, and database terminology.
