ResearchStatistician II-IV

Level II:  $3,933 - $4,785 per month (SR-18, Step C to H)

Level III:  $4,252 - $5,178 per month (SR-20, Step C to H)
Level IV:  $4,600-$5,600permonth(SR-22,StepCtoH)



Note:  Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

 

Permanent, Full-Time civil service appointment. The Research Statistician is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of surveillance, research, evaluation, and assessment of data for the CDPHPD programs. This includes 1) consultation on survey instrument design and modification of existing survey instruments; 2) analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data; 3) development and execution of program evaluation plans; 4) serving as the technical expert in the SEEO for evaluation methodologies and provides consultation and assistance to the CDPHPD programs; 5) supporting grant preparations and provides technical and content expertise for communication initiatives; and 6) assisting in the administration and management of the Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System (BRFSS), which surveys the adult population in Hawaii regarding health behaviors relevant to the leading cause of deaths, healthcare access, use of preventative health measures, and emerging health issues to estimate health risks.

 

 Minimum Qualification

 

EDUCATIOIN:  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, which include three

(3) semester credit hours in statistics.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  One-half (1/2) years for Level II, one and one-half (1 ½) years for Level III and two and one half (2½) years for Level IV of professional work experience conducting research and/or statistical studies which involved planning and designing surveys, modifying, and applying research and statistical methods and techniques to the collection and analysis of data; and preparing summaries or reports with data presented in graphic, narrative, or numerical form.

 

ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Successful completion of one (1) year of graduate study (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) at an accredited college or university which included at least one (1) graduate course in research methods and techniques or in advanced statistics, may be substituted for one (1) year of the Specialized Experience; or

 

Successful completion of all requirements for the Ph.D. degree in statistics, including the dissertation, may be substituted for two and one-half (2½) years of the Specialized Experience.
