53 By the Sea is one of the island’s premier fine dining experiences with sweeping views of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and the rolling surf at Kakaako.  We serve Hawaii Regional Cuisine which utilizes local products, support local farmers as much as possible, and uses modern cooking techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assists other managers in ensuring all guests are being taken care of by FOH team and helps wherever is needed during service
  • Opens and closes restaurant facilities following standard operating procedures 
  • Supports all events as needed from start to finish, ensuring a positive overall restaurant experience 
  • Communicates with FOH team to ensure setup and service is precise 
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the menu, wine list, and beverages.
  • Processes food and beverage orders into the POS terminal quickly and accurately
  • Makes managerial decisions on the spot to fulfill guests’ questions and concerns.
  • Creates a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for the guests according to the standards of the house and guest needs. 
  • Maintains a complete understanding for each team member’s role in order to uphold standards that are set in place
  • Maintains cleanliness of work areas throughout the day
  • Performs all duties of each position within the front of the house as needed
  • Monitors actual sales and revenues to determine variance and assess goal accomplishments
  • Creates an environment in which all employees have the ability to reach their full potential
  • Ensures that all associate and business decisions are in line with Ocean Investments, LLC Mission, Values, and guiding principles
  • Conducts regular staff meetings
  • Plans and manages the daily operational and maintenance activities of 53 by the Sea
  • Supervises all personnel. Responsible for staff hiring, training, and evaluation; develops employee training programs to ensure consistent level of knowledge, skills, and performance of the staff.  Coaches, mentors, provides effective performance feedback to and disciplines staff.
  • Empowers employees to take responsibility for their jobs. Delegates responsibility appropriately by making highest and best use of people resources
  • Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among staff members at all levels
  • Follows and enforces all standards and protocols as set forth by Ocean Investments
  • Provides operational reports as needed 
  • Assists in the upkeep and cleanliness of the entire facility as needed
  • Displays a sense of urgency in all tasks
  • Other duties as needed
  • Must be able to work beyond the standard 40 hour work week as business needs dictate

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Upper education preferable, however not required
  • 3 -5 years of related experience preferably with a full-size restaurant and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in cash-handling
  • Experience in inventory management

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Management team must exhibit the competencies outlined in the attached Exhibit A, list of competencies.
  • Computer skills required. Working knowledge of Reservations system and Microsoft Office including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access.                   ​                 <​/li>
  • Must possess knowledge of sequence of service
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Liquor License (Manager Card required)
  • TB Clearance
  • Must meet background check requirements applicable to the central job duties of the position
