JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION NAME: Security Officer/Maintenance Tech DEPARTMENT/GRADE LEVEL:

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety
and security of students, staff, and visitors on school property. This role includes monitoring campus
activity, enforcing school safety policies, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with local law
enforcement when necessary. The Security Officer will work with the Facilities Department when
students are not on campus.

A Security Officer is expected to have competencies in the following major areas:

A. Patrol and monitor school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to maintain a secure
environment.
B. C. Control access to campus facilities and verify visitor credentials.
Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, including medical
situations.
D. E. F. Enforce school safety policies and procedures in alignment with Catholic values.
Maintain accurate logs and incident reports.
Develop daily, weekly, and/or monthly work schedules and Asset Management work
order system request for the Maintenance Workers to meet deadlines that are mutually
agreed upon with the Director of Physical Plant. Supervises work to completion.
G. H. Assist with traffic control during student drop-off and pick-up times.
Support emergency drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation) and ensure compliance with safety
protocols.
I. J. K. Provides hospitable service to students, faculty, visitors, and staff.
Collaborate with school administration and local authorities as needed.
Works with Maintenance Tech’s when no students are on the campusL. Follow directions to perform maintenance tasks as assigned or directed by The Lead
Maintenance and Director of Physical Plant Staff
M. Reports to the Director of Physical Plant on all issues with security and maintenance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); or 2 – 3 years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
B. Valid Hawaii driver’s license.
C. D. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports
and correspondence.
E. Valid Hawaii Guard Card (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
F. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
G. Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy physical effort is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the
hands/wrists. May need to climb stairs and ladders; lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to
50 pounds. Must be able to respond effectively to emergency situations. Frequent prolonged
standing/walking, push/pull or move/lift heavy equipment and supplies; manual dexterity and
mobility with occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching; specific
vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment; may be exposed to odorous
and/or toxic chemicals; subject to burns and cuts; subject to injury from moving parts of
equipment; subject to allergic reactions from plants and/or chemicals; works in precarious or
high locations (ladders, scaffolding, etc.); occasionally subjected to irregular hours;
occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries; work may be performed in cramped
or awkward positions; occasionally works in outside weather conditions; exposed to
moderate noise levels in the work environment.
