Job Description

 

This mid-level position reports to the Controller of Poukihi but will work closely with other Poukihi staff members and external clients’ staff. Functions performed involve the accounting and administrative functions of assigned clients in a variety of industries including education, marketing, information technology and non-profits. Partial-remote work is available (or full-remote if on a neighbor island).

Financial Responsibilities include: 

 

Prepare or Review A/R, A/P and Journal entries with attention to detail and documentation 

 

General Ledger Functions: 

 

Bank Reconciliations 

 

Credit Card Reconciliations 

 

Other Balance Sheet Reconciliations as needed 

 

Verification of data imports 

 

Journal Entries (depreciation, accruals, deferrals, expense allocations) 

 

Develop or refine processes to maximize efficiencies without losing integrity of data 

 

Prepare dashboards and financial statements for review 

 

Prepare GET calculations, expense accruals, and allocations for review 

 

Assist with clients’ audits – preparing schedules, answering questions from auditors, etc. 

 

Assist with clients’ tax filings – preparing schedules, answering questions from tax accountant, etc. 

 

Maintain fiscal policies to ensure our clients’ financial health and integrity 

 

Provide financial insight, awareness and recommendations to the Executive Team 

 

Manage all financial and administrative files and ensure they are orderly, safe, and secure 

 

Provide any additional financial reporting as requested 

 

 

Administrative responsibilities include:


General administrative functions such as answering phones, filing documents, etc. 

 

 

Client Management:

 

Connect with clients to coordinate vendor payments and customer invoices. 

 

Other duties as may be required from time to time 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher institution in Accounting or related field 

 

Minimum 5‐7 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience 

 

Experience in Excel and other MS Suite programs 

 

Experience in QuickBooks or other accounting information systems 

 

Previous successful experience working with sensitive and confidential information 

 

Available full time Monday through Friday

Compensation & Benefits 

 

Salary dependent on experience: $50,045.52 - $74,435.37 per year

Paid Holidays (8) 

 

PTO (covering Vacation/Sick) begins accruing on your first day but cannot be taken until after completing six (6) months of employment.
