POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely for the entire company. They also assist with the monthly closing of the financial records and provides support to other members of the Finance department and to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Specific Duties
Payroll Related:
- Reviews timecards for proper calculation of pay, deductions and benefits and their allocations to programs.
- Reviews timecards to verify that all time and edits are complete and approved.
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure payroll records are updated with correct employee information and benefits.
- Works closely with payroll processing company to ensure timely and accurate transmission of bi-weekly payroll and related tax payments.
- Responsible for processing requests for paycheck adjustments, retro amounts and final checks, as necessary.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies and supports employees with payroll related questions.
- Prepares payroll related journal entries.
Accounting Related:
- Assists in the monthly closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Responsible for reconciling inventory and cost of sales journal entries.
- Reconciles and posts all intra- and inter-company transactions.
- Maintains and monitors the company’s inventory of fixed assets. Prepares monthly depreciation journal entries.
- Assists with General Excise Tax filings.
- Assists in preparing audit schedules.
- Assists management with their program's accounting and reporting needs
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Duties:

- Completes training as mandated by organizational policy.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, may be required to work overtime as needed. May be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and holidays to meet operational needs and contract requirements.
- Indoor, office setting, outdoors; may need to do deliveries, travel to other program sites, meeting sites, etc., as required.
EQUIPMENT USE:
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft 365, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Other standard office equipment, i.e., computer, copier.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Education: Associates Degree in accounting or equivalent.
- Experience: 5+ years accounting
- Clearances/Certification: 1) TB clearance; 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Service/Adult Protective Service check.
Preferred:
- Education: Bachelors degree in accounting
- Experience: 2 years of payroll processing experience.
