Senior Financial Analyst
Honolulu, Hawaiʻi | Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience

As Hawaiʻi’s largest locally owned supplier of perishable foods and logistics services, our teams support the movement of products to stores, retailers, and communities across the islands every day.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and strategic financial support across HFA’s business. This role will partner closely with Finance leadership, executives, operational leaders, and cross-functional teams to support informed decision-making, improve profitability, strengthen financial controls, and help position HFA for continued growth.

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, business analytics, or related experience, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and operational performance analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred, but not required
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to translate data into business insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to management
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting and Close Support
- Develop, review, and present financial reports, supporting schedules, and key analyses that support executive decision-making and external reporting requirements
- Review and validate month-end close entries, reconciliations, and financial statement variances, providing guidance and resolution for complex issues as needed
- Build and maintain consolidation workpapers across business lines, including broadline distribution and 3PL
- Prepare balance sheet flux and P&L variance analyses with written explanations for leadership
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Planning (FP&A)
- Lead or support the annual budget process, including templates, timelines, and department-level coordination
- Maintain rolling forecasts and reforecast when volumes, freight, or fuel assumptions shift
- Model scenarios for capital projects, acquisitions, new customer contracts, and pricing changes
- Track budget versus actual by department and business unit, and meet with department leaders to explain variances
- Partner with business leaders to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term growth
Pricing and Profitability Analysis
- Analyze gross margin by customer, product category, vendor, and route
- Model landed cost, freight, and inbound logistics economics
- Support pricing decisions with cost-plus and contribution margin analysis
- Analyze warehouse, fleet, and labor productivity metrics with operations leaders
- Evaluate customer and vendor profitability, including rebates, allowances, and promotional spending
Internal Controls and Audit
- Document and test key internal controls over financial reporting and recommend remediation
- Serve as the primary liaison for the external audit, including preparing PBC lists, pulling support, and fielding auditor questions
- Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff for accuracy and proper support
- Identify control gaps in processes such as inventory counts, cash handling, AP approvals, and credit memos
- Support bank, insurance, or benefit plan audits
Cash and Treasury Support
- Prepare 13-week cash flow forecasts
- Monitor covenant compliance and prepare lender reporting packages
- Analyze working capital, including DSO, DPO, inventory turns, and aging trends
Systems and Data
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards
- Validate data integrity between the ERP, data warehouse, and reporting outputs
- Automate recurring analyses and identify process improvements in close and reporting workflows
- Partner with the Data team on defining financial metrics and reconciling BI outputs to the general ledger
Special Projects
- Support M&A due diligence and purchase accounting
- Prepare board and ownership reporting materials
- Model capital expenditure requests and post-implementation reviews
- Support insurance renewals, property tax filings, and other periodic submissions with data and schedules
Leadership and Development
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and business growth
- Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting efficiency, data accuracy, and financial controls
- Mentor and support team members by sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, and fostering continuous professional development
