TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Temporary up to 6/30/2022 and may be renewed subject to funding availability and approval 



DIVISION: Proposed Transportation Rail Division 

POSITION: Senior Grounds Keeper, WS-02

LOCATION OF POSITION: Rail Operations Center, 635/645 Middle Street, Other 

DUTIES SUMMARY: This position supervises and participates in caring for, maintaining and beautifying various types of grounds including landscape medians, parking facilities, common areas of the Rail Operations Center, and other rail-related parcels, landslide areas, remnant parcels; changing of trash and refuse receptacles and minor repairs of damaged sprinkler heads, under the jurisdiction of the proposed Rail Facilities Management and Maintenance Branch.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas


LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Hawaii State Driver's License (Type 3); current State Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) medical examination certificate 


KNOWLEDGE OF:  The care, cultivation and propagation of shrubs, flowers, trees and lawns; operation and care of groundskeeping maintenance equipment and tools 


ABILITY TO: Lay out and supervise the work of others; give and follow oral and written instructions; care for and cultivate shrubs, flowers, trees, and lawns; operate hand and power equipment and tools; encourage and enforce safety practices.
