YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Youth Ministry Coordinator is responsible for the overall Parish Youth Program to include planning and organizing youth activities, and participating in Youth activities offered by the Vicariate and Diocese.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Works closely with the Pastor/Parish Administrator to set the vision for the Youth Program.

* Networks with community, ministry, and school leaders in support of the work of the Parish Youth.

* Collaborates with the Religious Education Coordinator to ensure both the Religious Education program and the Youth Program are aligned in keeping with the Pastor’s vision.

* Recruits volunteers to assist with the Youth Ministry.

* Plans and organizes youth activities in the parish and participates in youth activities of the Windward Vicariate and the Diocese of Honolulu.

* Attends all youth meetings, retreats and workshops in the Parish and the Diocese.

* Reports monthly to the Pastor/Parish Administrator.

* Attends weekly Parish Office staff meetings to coordinate and review Youth programs.

* Supports ad hoc Parish office activities as needed thus working together as a team with the Parish Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Active, practicing Catholic in good standing.

Successful completion of Safe Environment Training and Background Check.

Prior experience in Catholic ministries preferred.

College education preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performing the required duties of this position sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, moving items up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to respond effectively to and lead group meetings in emergency situations.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities involves working on weekends. Employee is sometimes required to attend evening meetings.
