Help Build Programs That Create Opportunity

At Hawaii Foodservice Alliance (HFA), we’re looking for a proactive, organized, and people-focused Workforce & Community Programs Coordinator to help develop and coordinate programs that connect students, emerging workers, and community members with real-world career opportunities.

In this role, you’ll help bring workforce and community programs to life — from internships, job shadowing, and career exploration to school visits, facility tours, career fairs, and other outreach activities.

You’ll work closely with schools, community organizations, workforce partners, participants, and teams across HFA to coordinate programs, support participants, and identify new ways to strengthen HFA’s connection with Hawai‘i’s future workforce.

This role will also involve travel throughout O‘ahu and to neighboring islands to support programs, events, partnerships, and HFA locations as needed.

If you enjoy working with people, coordinating moving pieces, building programs, and turning ideas into action, this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate internships, job shadowing, career exploration, school visits, facility tours, and other workforce and community programs
  • Recruit, onboard, support, and follow up with students, participants, and emerging workers
  • Coordinate with HFA mentors, supervisors, managers, and departments involved in workforce programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, educators, counselors, community organizations, and workforce partners
  • Represent HFA at career fairs, school events, community events, workforce meetings, and recruitment activities
  • Support workforce and community programs across HFA locations on O‘ahu and the neighboring islands
  • Travel to neighboring islands as needed to attend events, meet with partners, support programs, and coordinate activities
  • Coordinate program schedules, communications, participant records, materials, travel needs, and event logistics
  • Maintain regular communication with participants, families, educators, community partners, and internal HFA teams
  • Track program participation, activities, outcomes, and other basic program information
  • Provide updates and help identify opportunities to improve existing programs
  • Identify barriers to participation and recommend practical solutions that support participant success
  • Help research and develop new workforce and community programs based on HFA’s needs
  • Create new ways to introduce students and emerging workers to career opportunities within HFA

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and consistent with follow-up and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, events, conversations, and priorities
  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative without needing step-by-step direction
  • Creative, adaptable, and willing to try new ideas and learn from experience
  • Comfortable working with students, educators, community organizations, workforce partners, managers, and company leadership
  • Comfortable representing HFA professionally at schools, events, and within the community
  • Comfortable traveling between HFA locations and to neighboring islands as part of the role
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining basic tracking information
  • Someone who enjoys coordinating programs, connecting people, and creating opportunities for others

Experience

Experience in workforce development, education, student programs, community outreach, recruiting, nonprofit organizations, program coordination, or event planning is helpful, but not required.

We recognize that great experience can come from many places. Equivalent education, professional experience, volunteer service, and community involvement will also be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout O‘ahu and to neighboring islands as needed
  • Travel may include visits to HFA facilities, schools, community partner locations, career fairs, and other events
  • Occasional overnight interisland travel may be required
  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport recruitment, program, or event materials
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend events
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Why Join HFA?

  • Help create career opportunities for students, emerging workers, and members of our local communities
  • Develop and coordinate programs that can have a long-term impact on HFA and Hawai‘i’s workforce
  • Build meaningful relationships with schools, educators, community organizations, and workforce partners across Hawai‘i
  • Work directly with teams and leaders throughout the organization
  • Gain hands-on experience across workforce development, recruiting, community outreach, and program coordination
  • Get out into the community and support programs across multiple HFA locations and islands
  • Bring new ideas to life and help shape how HFA connects with Hawai‘i’s future workforce
  • Grow your career with a team that values ownership, collaboration, creativity, and development

No Perfect Resume Required

If you’re motivated, organized, willing to learn, and excited about creating programs that connect people with meaningful career opportunities, we encourage you to apply — even if your experience looks a little different.
