Workshop Manager
Are you passionate about sustainability, woodworking, and making a positive impact in your community? We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Workshop Manager to join our team at our nonprofit organization dedicated to social impact and reuse. In this role, you'll lead our Furniture Making Program and help us create beautiful, sustainable products from salvaged materials.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain our workshop, ensuring all equipment and tools are in safe, operable condition
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and following all safety procedures
- Collaborate with our team to design and create products using salvaged materials
- Prepare quotes for contracted work and establish financial objectives for the Furniture Making Program
- Assist with facility improvements and maintenance as needed
- Manage inventory and order supplies for the workshop
- Participate in weekly Management Team meetings and contribute to collective goals
- Provide technical assistance to team members on tools, materials, and projects
- Supervise volunteers and workforce development participants
Requirements:
- Knowledge of woodworking and/or furniture making
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Enthusiasm for environmental sustainability and community engagement
- Adaptability and grace under pressure
- Commitment to preserving and maintaining organizational resources
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups
- Proficiency in multi-tasking and efficiently switching between tasks
