Youth Director

Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

The Central Union Church is seeking a Youth Director to join our team.  The position is Casual (<20 hours per week) and requires the flexibility to work as scheduled.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  •          Advocates for youth leadership and educates the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of youth in the local church and the community
  •          Articulates a clear, consistent, and compelling vision for the Youth Ministry program rooted in the CUC mission and focused on inspiring and equipping youth for continual faith formation
  •          Develops and implements all aspects of a balanced youth ministry in the areas of Sunday morning programming, spiritual practices, worship, mission and outreach
  •          Collaborates with the Youth Ministry to recruit and train volunteers, set and assess annual goals, and to implement the vision through programs and relationships
  •          Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of events, registrations, rosters and budgets


The Successful Applicant must have:


  •        Successful pass on required background check
  •          Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University; or a minimum of five years related experience and/ or training working with youth; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  •          The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  •          The ability to write speeches, lesson plans, and articles using original or innovative techniques and style
  •          Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  •          The ability to travel (via airplane and other means) to a variety of in-state and out of state locations
