Our client is seeking an individual with supervisory, administrative, and coaching experience to join their team as an Athletics Director. In this role, you will develop, plan, coordinate, and implement the non-profit's sports and recreational programs, activities, and leagues.

The ideal candidate will have their bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, or human services, a minimum of 3 years' experience working with youth and adults from diverse backgrounds, and a minimum of 2 years' supervisory and administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Screen, interview, and hire new staff.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets.
  • Maintain and post a weekly calendar of gymnasium, pool, and field usage.
  • Coordinate schedule of program usage with staff in charge of facility rentals.
  • Oversee facility usage and ensure proper equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Ensure facility is secured at closing and all equipment are stored and cleaned.
  • Oversee program volunteers including volunteer application, training, and recognition.
  • Conduct outreach to neighboring schools and low-income housing projects and recruit program participants.
  • Prepare and distribute program satisfaction surveys and ensure collection and compilation by program staff.
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, human services, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with youth and adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Minimum 2 years' supervisory and administrative experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of coaching a recreational program.
  • Strong background in organized sports including basketball, football, volleyball and/or aquatics either as a player or coach.
  • Knowledge of sports, equipment, and facility safety.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date).
  • Able to pass state/federal background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have access to a registered and insured automobile with proof of auto insurance.
