Job Description

A well-established local union is looking for a temp-to-hire Bookkeeper. This is a stable full-time position with great benefits such as a generous paid leave policy (holiday, sick, vacation), life insurance, medical benefits (incl. dental and vision). As the Bookkeeper, you will handle daily accounting operations such as A/R and A/P duties, maintain the general ledger, and process payroll.

Qualified candidates will have their bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, and possess prior bookkeeping and/or accounting experience.

Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm

Location

Downtown, Honolulu, Oahu

Responsibilities

  • Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation duties.
  • Handle computerized accounting as well as manual set of books.
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Manage the payroll processing, payroll taxes and deposits.
  • Update and maintain the general ledger.
  • Oversee journal entries.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Previous bookkeeping and/or accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • High level of professionalism, patience, and willingness to learn.
  • Be self-motivated, reliable and hardworking.
