Job Description

Seeking a full-time Chief Financial Officer for a local landscape company based in Kailua-Kona. The CFO will be responsible for managing the company’s overall financial health while partnering closely with ownership and operations leadership to support profitability, growth, and long-term business planning. This is a key leadership role for someone who enjoys working in a local, hands-on environment and can balance high-level financial strategy with day-to-day financial management.

Hours

Full-time, 8:00am-5:00pm

Location

  • Honolulu, Oahu
  • Kailua-Kona, Big Island

Pay

$120,000 to $135,000 a year, pay rate may be higher depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial and accounting functions across four locations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, billing, and cash management.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and long-term financial plans.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Monitor company profitability, job costing, margins, labor costs, overhead, and other key financial metrics.
  • Lead and develop accounting/administrative staff and establish clear financial processes across all locations.
  • Provide financial guidance for business expansion, equipment purchases, capital investments, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Support ownership with special projects, business planning, and other financial initiatives as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, coordinate audits and work with outside CPAs, and oversee insurance payments and claims.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with previous experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Experience managing accounting and financial operations for a small to mid-sized company preferred.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with job costing, construction, landscaping, contracting, or another service-based industry strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Hammertech and Sage100C software.
  • Valid driver's license.
