Job Description

A wholesale distributer is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales to join their team. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving sales strategies, managing sales teams across multiple locations, and ensuring the achievement of budget goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales management, product development, and market analysis.

Hours

Full-time, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with evenings and weekends as needed

Location

Honolulu, Oahu

Pay

$60,000 a year

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, establishing objectives and fulfilling responsibilities of the position.
  • Prepare and manage the annual Sales budget, monitoring and controlling department expenses.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor sales strategies to achieve budget goals through data analysis and market trend evaluation.
  • Manage sales staff across Hilo, Maui, Kauai, and Honolulu.
  • Oversee product lines for Industrial, PCO, Ag, and T/O market segments.
  • Research and recommend new or altered products based on market surveys.
  • Analyze reports and recommend revisions to selling prices and market development strategies.
  • Support sales efforts for golf course and related sand business.
  • Manage pricing for Industrial, Ag, T/O, PCO, and sand products.
  • Lead the Pricing committee in bid preparation and determine pricing strategies.
  • Coordinate product field trial implementation and summarize results for suppliers.
  • Plan and execute promotional activities, sales incentive programs, and customer functions.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department on product sourcing and inventory management.
  • Participate in supplier business building programs and coordinate rebate activities.
  • Develop and implement training programs for sales staff.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Thorough knowledge of sales and marketing principles and applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to organize data into comprehensible reports.
  • Proficiency with AS400 and PC computer systems.
  • Knowledge of chemical products and nomenclature.
  • Understanding of EPA and State regulations related to pesticides and chemicals.
  • Ability to comprehend price and supply trends in chemical commodity markets.
  • Effective negotiation skills to obtain favorable contractual terms with suppliers.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • College degree with 2 years related experience or High School diploma with 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
