Business is booming for this large distributor that's been doing business in Hawaii for over a 100 years!

The Driver Trainer is responsible for creating, conducting, and managing instructor-led training (ILT) courses relating to all driver functions and driver development, including technical processes and safety. The Driver Trainer will identify, document, and update all curriculum and protocols required to train new and existing drivers. During training downtime or peak business periods, the Driver Trainer may be required to fill in as a delivery driver or container hauler.


Full-time, 7:00am-4:00pm


Sand Island, Honolulu, Oahu


$21 to $26 an hour


  • Serve as lead trainer for all internal driver training programs including, but not limited to classroom and on-road training of: Non-CDL driver training; CDL A & B initial training and upgrade; Smith System training; Driver Improvement Program (DIP Classes); Customer Service & Problem Resolution training; Truck, Trailer and Container loading; Forklift and pallet jack operations; and Safety.
  • Document operational processes and create standardized protocols for all drivers to follow.
  • Conduct process, driving and safety audits as a means to reinforce learning and provide on-the-job training in order to increase delivery accuracy and the Customer?s experience.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new employees to the driving team to ensure proper integration into job functions and work environment to reduce turnover ratios.
  • Proactively search for ways to deploy quick bite learning to existing staff and management for the transportation team.
  • Manage all learning data and ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Fill in as a delivery driver, container hauler or dispatcher as needed during peak times or down training times.


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL A) and Medical Card.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Commercial Motor Vehicle experience, preferably in the foodservice industry.
  • Ability to establish and maintain FMCSA status as an approved driver trainer.
  • Ability to complete the Smith System Train the Trainer program.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
