Job Description

A local distributor is looking for an experienced IT Support Tech to join their team and assist with hardware installs, identifying technical problems, troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, and performing backups and repairs. The IT Support Tech will plan, direct, and manage the IT operations for the entire company, and also provides direction in the areas of policy and planning for data processing and related functions such as communications, office systems, and interplant connectivity.

The qualified candidate will have their bachelor's degree in computer science, a minimum of two years' experience in tech support, and previous programming and database experience.

  • Direct design, development, and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software.
  • Maintain the company?s main IT business systems including monitoring server health, planning for future expansion, installation of upgraded servers and data migration.
  • Maintain the company?s network infrastructure including security & firewall systems, gateway spam and anti-virus, wiring and wireless access points.
  • Install PCs and related hardware.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing and repairs.
  • Research current technologies and identify opportunities for cost savings and/or enhancements to the current systems.
  • Establish IT policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations.
  • Safeguard information resources and prevent system failures.
  • Administer the department?s expense budget to contribute to cost-effective operations of the company.
  • Maintain knowledge of development in the area of systems and hardware and incorporate new developments into the future systems of the company.
  • Perform routine backups and upgrades.
  • Handle activation and de-activation of workstation and communication systems for all users.
  • Maintain security systems to ensure safeguard of hardware and software components.
  • Provide information processing, systems counseling and guidance to management personnel throughout the company.
  • Develop programs and hardware systems to ensure cost-effective and current information systems.
  • Document and report any problems to supervisor.
  • Responsible for adhering to all safety practices and procedures while performing tasks in all work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or management information system desired.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in technical support.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Windows 7, 10, Mac OS X Server, RedHat LINUX, Apple iOS, Android, IBM iSeries, Mail Server Technologies, local and wide area networks.
  • Programming experience helpful (BASIC, PHP, HTML, Python).
  • Database experience with MySQL/SQL.
  • Troubleshooting aptitude required.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
