Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage consolidation program for the West Coast, includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
• Assist with counseling and disciplining employees, handle and resolve complaints.
• Evaluate and recommend the best tariffs to move containers from the West Coast to Hawaii.
• Review and analyze vendor agreements for pricing and customer pickup allowance.
• Assist buyers in bracket pricing and load consolidation through logistical contacts.
• Record and analyze product movements by vendor and destination.
• Supervise inbound truckload shipments from the manufacturer to the West Coast.
• Consolidate less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments from several suppliers for truckload weights at truckload pricing.
• Schedule inter-modal moves where advantageous.
• Negotiate rates and service commitments with various carriers to assure the best possible service at the most reasonable rates.
• Qualify carriers according to prescribed guidelines.
• Supervise claims preparation as required, submit necessary paperwork to carrier/vendor within required timelines and monitor claims for response.
• Notify accounts payable team of credits and debits.
• Evaluate carriers in terms of service, rates, claims, and responsiveness to the company?s needs and requests.
• Perform similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor?s degree in logistics, transportation, business administration, or related field.
• 3 years of working experience in logistics or relevant field such as ocean freight, freight consolidation, or supply chain.
• Previous management and customer service experience.
• Basic knowledge of ocean carriers, air, inter-modal and local trucking operators serving the distribution center.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent multitasking, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Reliable, personable, hardworking.
