A reputable insurance company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Accounting & Finance Department. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for statutory accounting, financial performance reporting, cost analysis, and tax management. This position will focus on financial reporting, providing accurate and timely financial information to colleagues and key relevant parties in the organization.

The ideal candidate will have their bachelor's degree in accounting and/or 3 years of progressive accounting experience.

Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Location

Honolulu, Oahu

Pay

$75,000 to $85,000 a year

Responsibilities

• Prepare and close monthly financial statements for company subsidiaries.
• Prepare the required statutory, regulatory, and government reports and statements.
• Lead accounting projects.
• Prepare, review, and/or approve journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Process policyholder premium receipts and refunds, policy claim disbursements, and agent commissions.
• Monitor internal controls and test for effectiveness. Identify and propose modifications when necessary.
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of budget versus actual reports, trend analyses, and other financial statement analytics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor?s degree in accounting or related degree and/or 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, GAAP, and the statutory basis of accounting preferred.
• Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills.
• Ability to learn new programs and accounting processes and systems.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
