Job Description

Seeking an experienced Accountant for a reputable national nonprofit organization! The Senior Accountant is a part of the Financial Reporting team and reports to the Financial Reporting Accounting Manager. The team is responsible for the setup and maintenance of the general ledger, compilation of financial statements for internal and external purposes, implementing new technologies, and researching tax issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the objectives and goals of the Financial Reporting team including completing daily work assignments and supporting the overall execution of the responsibilities of the Finance team.
  • Manage daily lockbox and ACH activities and the overall cash receipts process.
  • Set up new vendors in the accounts payable system.
  • Aggregate financial information from various sources to assist Controller in completing cash projections.
  • Review the investment in marketable securities activities to identify excess cash balances available to be transferred to corporate accounts.
  • Assist in approving transactions relating to investments in marketable securities.
  • Reconcile corporate bank accounts.
  • Support the compilation of monthly internal financial statements and maintenance of general ledger.
  • Implement process improvements to streamline financial statement preparation by leveraging automated tools.
  • Assists with ad hoc reporting requests and other assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in accounting required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, including preparing financial statements, analyzing budget to actual results, and working with information in databases.
  • CPA and/or audit experience is a plus.
  • Experience with accounting software required. Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, formula usage, large data manipulation).
  • Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills, and ability to coordinate complex activities, prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines with a quality, accurate work product.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
