POSITION SUMMARY


The Superintendent oversees and runs all aspects of projects, from start to finish and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of projects safely, on time, and within budget. This position is responsible for building teams that are qualified, knowledgeable, and assigned according to skill set. This position is primarily based in-office with occasional site visits, and acts as the point of contact between Foremen and the Operations Manager. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who has proven leadership and management skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


·      Work with project managers and foremen to plan, organize, and direct activities associated with projects.

·      Develop and produce work schedules in accordance with availability of employees, contractors and monitor the attendance of crew.

·      Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supplies, deliveries and personnel.

·      Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.

·      Report project progress and statuses to supervisors, site engineers and officials regularly.

·      Enforce quality control and Company safety policies on all aspects of construction.

·      Emphasize the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.

·      Confer with project managers to discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.

·      Initiate periodic meetings and other forms of communication with project team members and customers to inform them with unresolved problems and provide solutions.

·      Develop and oversee quality standards on all sites.

·      Monitor and manage project budgets on all sites.

·      Review, approve and negotiate change orders.

·      Interview, hire, and train direct reports, plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance: reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.

·      Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes.

·      Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on site quickly and amicably.

·      Report project progress and statuses to supervisors, site engineers and officials regularly.

·      Ensure that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.

·      Read, understand and enforce company policies and procedures.

·      Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

·      Miniumum 5 years of successful and progressive experience in heavy civil construction required.

·      Associates degree in construction management or related field preferred.

·      High school diploma or GED required.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Suites - Word, Excel and MAC Suites required.

·      Proficiency in HCSS, or Adobe Acrobat preferred.

·      Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints and convey this information to others required.

 

LICENSE

 

·      Must have a valid unexpired driver’s license.

·      Must have a clean driving record.
