Job Description


The Driller oversees the efficient execution of drilling activities to ensure operations run smoothly.  This position will develop and recommend enhancements to solve and troubleshoot drilling problems.  In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment.  The Driller will also enforce safety and efficiencies, and ensure all workers follow company and legal regulations.  This position must be organized, have strong communication and listening skills, have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess an eye for detail.



  • Physically implements projects and operates the drilling rig, including private, commercial and industrial water wells.
  • Work alongside clients, hydrologists, and engineers in order for operations to run smoothly.
  • Ability to manage, delegate and instruct responsibilities and individual projects to the drilling crew.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted according to the company's health and safety programs.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and field operations.
  • Attend all weekly company safety meetings and conduct daily team meetings.
  • Monitor the performance of all equipment, complete maintenance and repair projects.
  • Report project progress and statuses to the Drilling Superintendent/Project Manager on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and jobsite areas.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed and submitted to the appropriate departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three (3) years operating water well drilling experience preferred.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of all rig positions and operations.
  • General understanding of installation, service and operation of water well pumps.
  • Knowledge of Hawaii geology is a plus.


  • Must have a valid unexpired driver's license.
  • Must have a clean driving record.


  • Must be able to physically lift and carry 100lbs.
  • Must be able to climb on, off and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
  • Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk.
  • Ability to climb to various heights without hesitation.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and operating mechanical equipment.
