Heavy Equipment Operator (Journeyman)

Pay Range:

• $22 - $45 per hour Depending on Experience

Essential Duties & Experience: 

• Practice safety in your every move, estimating weights and distances, being fully aware of your surroundings, doing your part to minimize hazards and reporting any injuries or damage immediately.
• Prepare construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
• Works closely with the ground crew to dig ditches and trenches; hoist material, tools, and equipment; and any related work with heavy equipment.
• Move, load, and spread material throughout the project site utilizing a variety of mechanized equipment, unloads pipes, pallets, and other materials.
• Excavates for pipe, drainage, and utility installation and performs backfilling as necessary.
• Performs grading and top loading operations, utilizing traditional laser methods and/or laser guided equipment.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to work.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprint plans preferred.
• Follow directions well and perform tasks accurately with attention to detail.
• Communicates well verbally to convey information effectively.
• Skilled in using hand tools and operating mechanical equipment.
• Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment.
• Must be able to physically lift and carry 50 lbs.
