Alpha Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Accountant with excellent attention to detail and an overall stellar accounting background.  We're looking for someone who works hard and takes joy in showing up for work each day; someone who understands the importance of bringing passion to their profession and takes pride in helping our business maintain an accurate account of their financial activities.



The Senior Construction Accountant position provides an opportunity to take ownership of and apply principles of accounting to record and analyze financial information, including managing job cost attributes in our accounting and project management systems, responding to customer issues, resolving problems, and preparing financial reports related to our company's construction activities.



  • Develop, implement, and maintain construction accounting system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports.
  • Analyze and review construction status with Project Managers.  Direct and participate in cost analyzes and revenue forecasts.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable-related activities including:
  1. Processing invoices and credit card receipts in an efficient and timely manner with complete accuracy.
  2. Code and record invoices, expense reports, check requests and other similar items in accordance with GAAP and company standards.
  3. Prepare and monitor vendor lien releases.
  • Ad-hoc projects as delegated by the CFO and perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyzes - required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees, management and external organizations - required.
  • The ability to structure and apply Microsoft Excel solutions that require pivot and look up features as well as charts and graphs - required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suites - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MAC Applications - required.
  • Experience with construction/project accounting - preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, lien releases, and other pertinent construction documents - preferred.
