A premier kama‘aina company is seeking a motivated, strategically minded HR Consultant to join its Kahului team. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of local businesses. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, on-call hours as needed

$60,000 to $85,000 a year, Based on experience
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of current state and federal employment regulations and advise clients appropriately by helping them find creative solutions for their businesses.
- Foster exceptional customer relations (with clients and client employees). Effectively work with internal departments to achieve company goals.
- Participate and contribute as an effective member of the HR team by assisting with various projects and responsibilities. Examples include facilitating client/employee meetings.
- Prepare and facilitate training sessions, conduct investigations, and cover for other team members' clients, as needed, for any HR-related needs that may arise.
- Conduct new client orientation meetings to establish relationships.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientations in conjunction with HR administrative support staff.
- Participate in planning and conducting training modules for clients' employees, supervisors, and managers. Topics may include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance management, communication, sexual harassment, etc.
- Advise clients regarding appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, participating in the resolution process as needed.
- Respond to employee and client inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Assist clients in the development of compliant policies while remaining aware of how it may impact client operations, including employee morale.
- Assist in the review and determination of FLSA status for employees and develop compliant job descriptions for clients.
- Confer with clients to assist them with creating and/or updating an employee handbook and conduct subsequent handbook orientations.
- Conduct human resource-related investigations on behalf of clients as needed.
- Travel to client sites as needed, including the neighbor islands.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience.
- Previous experience in a consulting role, multi-unit management, or an HR shared-services environment is highly preferred.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM-CP, or higher-level certification (SPHR/SHRM-SCP) is strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS platforms and project management tools is a plus.
- Exceptional executive-level communication skills.
- You must be able to influence decision-makers, deliver difficult news with professionalism, and draft clear, legally sound correspondence.
- Proven ability to quickly diagnose complex business problems, evaluate multiple solutions, and implement strategies that mitigate risk while supporting organizational morale.
- Ability to maintain poise, confidentiality, and objective judgment in high-pressure situations.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for travel to client sites, including occasional travel to neighbor islands.
