Job Description

JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 1 

 

Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician is an hourly, regular full-time position with an intermediate level of responsibility within the overall Maintenance department. This position is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and improving mechanical and electrical equipment & systems in a working manufacturing environment with an emphasis on employee safety as the top priority. The incumbent will report directly to the Brewery Engineer. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for keeping brewery and equipment running to its full potential through preventative maintenance, running adjustments, and emergency repairs as needed. 
  • Performing basic electrical, programming, and mechanical troubleshooting on all equipment to identify failures or inefficiencies in equipment performance. 
  • Enter and complete work orders by logging actions and findings in an accurate and timely fashion through a web-based maintenance software. 
  • Assist with part inventory with proper record keeping, organizational skills, and purchasing as needed. 
  • Able to work safely and with a sense of urgency to return systems to service and minimize production downtime. 
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment including plant control systems, and motor control circuitry including variable frequency drives. 
  • Handle a large workload with multiple preventive and repair tasks/projects. 
  • Ability to install, set up, and troubleshoot communications modules and control components such as photo eyes, motor starters, Servo drives, encoders, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, motors, and other line control devices. 
  • Diagnose, repair and overhaul process pumps, automatic control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting and related systems. 
  • Diagnose and repair of all machinery and process malfunctions, must be fluent in mechanical troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting a plus. 
  • Diagnose and repair of all mechanical power transmission equipment. Knowledge of Gear boxes, mechanical drives and variable speed applications. 
  • Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, piping diagrams and product manuals.  
  • Skilled in the application and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment. 
  • Assist with maintaining facilities and facility systems such as HVAC and plumbing. 
  • Perform facility maintenance as needed not excluding cleaning, painting, and dry wall. 
  • Perform daily inspection of brewery and equipment.  
  • Ability to keep organized and accurate records for compliance and quality. 
  • Ability to employ problem solving skills to properly interpret observations, data, and other resources to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:  

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in manufacturing in a dedicated maintenance role focused on repairing electrical or controls systems. (Or) in a field of industrial operations, plant operations, maintenance, utilities and/or related field and performing similar job duties.  

Applicants, without an accommodation, must have the ability to frequently reach, twist, stoop, bend, crouch, stand and walk for 10-12 hour shifts within a loud manufacturing environment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without an accommodation.  

Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics and blue prints and use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and other tools to complete repairs. 

Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment and work in varying weather conditions that includes humidity and seasonal temperature changes.  

Applicant should possess strong mechanical ability with problem solving/troubleshooting skills. 

Certifications or knowledge of basic electrical systems. Can properly use electrical diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

Completion of a technical based degree or diploma program is desired with an emphasis in Industrial Systems, Electrical Systems, Electrical Controls or a similar area of study and 5+ years’ work experience. 

Certifications or knowledge of welding, preferably orbital/sanitary welding. 

Lean 6 Sigma training and implementation of sustainable practices.
