Hours
Full-time, 7:00am-5:30pm (10-hour shifts, 4 days a week, scheduled days rotate weekly)
Location
Kailua-Kona, Big Island
Pay
$28 to $30 an hour, DOE
Responsibilities
- Maintain and calibrate instruments (including but not limited to HPLC and ICP-MS equipment) used in the analysis of finished product formulations according to GMP guidelines.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods for continual improvement according to GMP guidelines.
- Conduct quality control laboratory testing for product release.
- Repair analytical instrumentation; disassemble and reassemble equipment and inspect components for defects.
- Prepare plans and procedures for maintenance program; including precision accuracy of measuring.
- Devise formulas to solve problems in instrumentation and calibrations.
- Record and report test data to verify equipment conformance to standards for method validation.
- Troubleshoot issues with analytical equipment and methods.
- Train and guide quality control staff on HPLC, ICP-MS, and other analytical equipment, standard preparation and methods.
- Provide back up support where and when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree in chemistry, biology, botany, marine science, or relevant discipline. Master's degree a plus.
- Minimum 6-8 years of industrial laboratory experience required.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
- Related work experience with analytical instruments and techniques required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of the American Society of Chemistry.
- HAZMAT certified and successful completion of applicable continuing education through the American Society of Chemistry or other comparable organization.
- Experience with HPLC and ICP-MS in a GMP environment highly desirable.
- Experience with PC controlled analytical equipment and analytical equipment software highly desirable.
- Experience with method development and analytical equipment repair and part replacement preferred.
