POSITION: Assistant Equipment Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Head Mechanic (or in his absence the Superintendent)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS: Shop work is done in a building under cover and may take place on the ground, a work bench, or suspended. Field work shall be mostly on the ground, uneven at times, in open air.
Regular work hours will be 5:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and from 5:00 a.m. until complete on a Weekend day to be determined. There will be occasions where additional work days and time will be required to complete job duties. Position requires regular and predictable attendance.
MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires alertness, awareness, anticipation, attention to detail and mindfulness for safety concerns.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, kneel, stoop and crawl to maneuver in repair areas; requires lying prostrate to access repair areas; use hands to feel and manipulate or feel; and talk and hear. The employee is required to walk, reach with arms and hands and climb and balance. The employee must be able to regularly lift fifty pounds. The employee must meet vision requirements of close, distant, color, peripheral and depth perception.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Skills/Knowledge – Able to understand, diagnose and repair gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and any mechanical system used to implement such systems. Must be able to weld using both a rod type and line feed. Must be able to read, analyze, interpret and communicate information found in equipment manuals, technical procedures manuals and government regulations. Must be able to read, write and speak in English. Must be able to write reports, procedural forms and create and update files of information. Must be able to listen and speak effectively to communicate ideas and theory. Able to do addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, calculate percentages as well as use a calculator. Must be able to independently retain and carry out instructions in written and oral form.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED), and have a minimum 5 years experience in automotive repair or years as a golf course maintenance mechanic. Driver’s License is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, hazards inherent to golf courses such as flying golf balls and elevated noise levels.
