Merchandising & Golf Operations Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Golf Pro Shop JOB TITLE: Merchandising & Golf Operations Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Head Golf Professional
JOB TYPE: Hourly/Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION: The Merchandiser and Golf Operations Supervisor oversees golf shop merchandising, assists with vendor relations, and supports daily golf operations. This role requires a balance of shop coverage, inventory management, and leadership to ensure a high-quality retail and operational experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Merchandising: Curate, stock, and display golf shop inventory, including apparel, equipment, and accessories, to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.
- Vendor Relations: Assist in communicating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of merchandise, negotiate pricing, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory audits, and coordinate reordering to maintain optimal product availability.
- Golf Operations Support: Assist the Head Golf Professional and Assistant Golf Professional with daily golf course operations, including tee time scheduling, customer service, and coordination with golf staff.
- Leadership: Supervise golf shop staff, provide training, and foster a positive team environment to ensure excellent service and operational efficiency.
- Customer Engagement: Interact with customers to provide product recommendations, promote sales, and enhance overall golf shop experience.
- Shop Coverage: Balance time between merchandising tasks, operational duties, and shop floor presence to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Reporting: Track sales, inventory, and operational metrics, providing regular reports to management.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in retail merchandising, preferably in a golf or sports-related environment, and 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills; proficiency in inventory management systems; basic knowledge of golf operations.
- Education: High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or related field preferred.
- Attributes: Customer-focused, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support shop and operational needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for stocking and organizing merchandise.
- Standing and walking for extended periods during shop coverage and operations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Primarily based in the golf shop with occasional outdoor duties on the golf course.
- Collaborative team setting with frequent interaction with customers, staff, and vendors.
