Server Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage JOB TITLE: Server Assistant
REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Director, Managers & Supervisors
JOB TYPE: Hourly/ Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION: As an integral part of the team, the Server Assistant must be highly motivated and customer-focused to provide excellent food and beverage service that meets or exceeds Club standards. This dynamic role blends dining room support, guest hosting, and kitchen expediting. The individual will prepare the restaurant for service, ensure efficient order flow between waitstaff and the kitchen, and maintain the cleanliness of the dining room while possessing an engaging, quick-thinking personality
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guest Experience & Order Management
- Meets, greets, seats, and thanks Club members and guests upon departure.
- Learns restaurant seating layouts, table numbers, hours, room capacity, and dress code to effectively seat guests and monitor open sections.
- ·Estimates wait times and ensures members' needs are met while they are waiting.
- ·Answers the phone in a professional manner, directs calls, makes reservations, and takes phone food orders.
- Takes food and cocktail orders according to service sequence standards and assists with food service as needed.
- Operates the POS and mobile ordering systems with high accuracy and efficiency to ring up items in a timely manner.
- Handles complaints according to guidelines, mitigating server/kitchen errors in a solution-oriented fashion to leave guests satisfied.
- Keeps abreast of all Club promotions and upcoming events to promote them to members and guests.
Expediting & Dining Room Support
- Set up the kitchen line and pass with all prepared tools and accompaniments needed for service.
- Monitor buffet stations and replenish plates and food items promptly to ensure quality, freshness and availability.
- Tracks all incoming orders and ticket times, prioritizing the completion of table orders with business levels. Completes all plates to the expected presentation, including accompanying flatware, and runs food to tables.
- Communicates consistently with the kitchen to ensure efficient completion of tickets across all stations.
- Demonstrates teamwork by assisting servers on the floor with bussing, clearing and resetting tables, and running food.
- Perform breakdown and set up of dining areas and server stations for special events and functions.
- Maintains cleanliness of all dining areas, server stations, and work areas, including polishing glass and flatware.
- Completes all opening, ongoing, and closing duties, as well as required training quizzes.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires reading, writing, and speaking fluently in English, reading, interpreting, and understanding drink recipes and abbreviated food tickets from the kitchen.
- Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
- Must have good eye and hand coordination; independently retain and carry out instructions in written or oral form; and communicate issues, results, and concerns.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED (general education degree.)
- Must have a Gray/Red card issued from the Honolulu Liquor Commission.
- Must provide the required documentation as needed to complete Federal and State forms for employment.
- A TB clearance is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time (up to 4 hours minimum), talk, smell and hear. The employee is required to reach with arms and hands, climb and balance; regularly lift, push, and pull tables and chairs (with assistance if necessary). Must be able to lift and carry loaded large trays. The employee must meet vision requirements of close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be available to work holidays and weekends as necessary.
- This job requires regular and predictable attendance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to temperature changes indoors and out and working in both air conditioned and non-air-conditioned environments as well as in direct sunlight.
- May also be exposed to cleaning chemicals i.e., bleach, degreaser, or dish detergent.
