 DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage                                         JOB TITLE: Snack Bar Attendant

 REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Director

SUPERVISES: No supervisory duties are included in this position

JOB TYPE: Hourly/Non-Exempt

 BASIC FUNCTION: To provide food and beverage service to members to guests who meet or exceed Club standards. Provide informal and fast-food services in the snack shop. Maintain cleanliness, ordered supplies, prepped food, and re-stock sundries and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides food and beverage service of the best quality in accordance with the menu.
  • Maintains cleanliness of production and service equipment and of production, storage, service, and other areas.
  • Answers the phone in a professional manner and directs calls to the appropriate person.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with urgency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Provides adequate display of garnishes and condiments on a “self-serve” basis.
  • Operates the POS system with high accuracy and efficiency, ensuring all items are run up correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Handles all cash and credit card transactions with accuracy.
  • Completes all opening, ongoing and closing duties to Club standards and in accordance with
  • Snack Shop Manual.
  •  Handles complaints according to guidelines and in a way that leaves members and guests satisfied and impressed.
  •  Informs Managers of any complaints or concerns as soon as they arise
  •  Ensures the safety of self, other staff, members, and guests during service by being aware of surroundings, following safety guidelines, attending all safety meetings, and reporting all potential safety hazards. 
  • Keeps abreast of all Club promotions and upcoming events; can promote and communicate these to members and guests.
  • Complies with applicable health, alcoholic beverage, fire, and other laws and requirements.
  • Inspects snack shop facility to ensure sanitation, safety, energy management, and preventive maintenance and reports to management.
  •  Assists with producing and serving food and beverage products as necessary.
  •  Maintains and monitors an inventory of all snack shop products, supplies, small equipment, and other items.
  • Informs management of any suggestions for updating the procedures manual for the snack shop.
  • Consistently complies with the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to members and guests.
  • Suggests menu additions based on member and guest requests.
  • Completes other appropriate assignments made by the food and beverage managers.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and takes direction without complaint or argument.
  • Adheres to all current MPCC policies and procedures as outlined in the MPCC Employee Manual and the Food & Beverage Policies, Procedures, and Training Manual.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires reading, writing, and speaking fluently in English; Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Must have good eye and hand coordination; independently retain and carry out instructions in written or oral form; and communicate issues, results, and concerns.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED (general education degree.)
  • Must maintain a BLUE card issued by the Honolulu Liquor Commission.
  • Must provide required documentation as needed to complete Federal and State forms for employment.
  • Must be able to communicate via email and text.
  •  A TB clearance is required.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends as necessary.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to temperature changes indoors and out and working in both air-conditioning and non-air-conditioned environments as well as in direct sunlight.
  • May also be exposed to cleaning chemicals i.e., bleach, degreaser, or dish detergent.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, smell, and hear.  Employees may need to stand for long periods of time. The employee is required to reach with arms and hands, climb and balance. Must be able to lift and carry boxes up to 50 pounds and supplies. The employee must meet vision requirements of close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
