HSH Associate Administrator, Clinical Services

Salary commensurate w/ training and experience


The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical and administrative supervision of the Psychiatry Services Unit, Social Work Services Unit, Clinical Psychology Services Unit, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy Unit, Recreational Therapy Unit, Medical Services Unit, State Operated Specialized Residential Services (SOSRP), Clinical Safety, Forensics and ancillary services of pastoral care.  The Associate Administrator of Clinical Services (AACS) is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of policies and procedures that provide for the development and maintenance of effective programming and services; the timely modification and/or elimination of services and programming that hinder or prevent treatment and rehabilitation and timely discharge of patients at HSH.



Minimum Qualifications


EDUCATION:  Successful completion of one of the following courses of study in an accredited college of university:


1.         Psychiatry – Possession of a M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent and completion of accredited psychiatric residency required.  Graduate from an approved medical school in the United States or Canada or graduate from a foreign medical school and certification by the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).  Completion of one year of approved internship and four years of psychiatric residency training.  Board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.


2.         Nursing – Possession of a Master's Degree in nursing.




1.         Specialized Experience


Three and one-half years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a psychiatric inpatient program concerned with directing the development, implementation and coordination of treatment and rehabilitation programming and services.


2.         Supervisory Experience


A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in an inpatient program setting, including performance evaluation and labor relations.


Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position.  The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that the individual has the ability to perform the duties of this position for which he/she is being considered.


LICENSE:  This position must be licensed in accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes as applicable to the discipline of the incumbent.  Valid Type 3 Driver’s License.
