‘Iole’s Aina Technician is responsible for stewarding & maintaining the aina of ‘Iole. To be successful in this role they should have a general understanding of land maintenance practices and methods, be able to communicate effectively with other staff, enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving, and be comfortable working with a team and taking direction from senior team members and managers.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic aina and infrastructure repairs and maintenance including fencing, tree and branch removal, mowing, invasive plant removal, farm maintenance, food harvesting,
- Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance work for zero turn mowers, tractors, trucks and other farm and lawn equipment (weed whacker, chainsaw, auger, blower)
- Support Ho’okipa guests, community members, and other visitors safely and respectfully while accessing the aina
- Mowing, weed whacking, tree trimming (when needed)
Qualifications
- General knowledge of practices and methods used in land management including common tools, materials, equipment, and safety procedures used in farming, ranching, landscaping, and land restoration
- Knowledge of how to safely use common tools and equipment used in a variety of land related trades
- Ability to read and interpret equipment operations and maintenance manuals
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, climb ladders, operate basic farm and landscape equipment, and perform various types of labor in eight-hour shift
- Able to work well with others
- Able to follow directions and instructions from team members and supervisors
- Must have a Hawaii drivers license
Work Schedule
This is a full time, 40 hour/week position. Work hours are 7am - 3pm, Monday through Friday.
Pay & Benefits
Starting pay $24 per hour. Benefits include but are not limited to 14 paid Holidays, PTO (accrued up to 21 days per year), Medical, Dental & Vision, and 401(k) retirement plan.
