Ho'okipa Specialist

‘Iole is a non-profit formed in 2022 to restore, sustain and regenerate the ‘Iole ahupua’a located in North Kohala on the Island of Hawaii. Consisting of 2,400 acres of land running from mauka to makai, and roughly a mile wide and 4 miles long, ‘Iole has rich and diverse ecological, agricultural, and cultural resources including onsite lodging facilities, ranching, and farming. 

As ‘Iole’s Ho’okipa Specialist your role will support the Ho’okipa program. You will be responsible for general building cleaning and basic maintenance and will work closely with the other Ho’okipa staff to prepare for guest visits. To be successful in this role you should have a general understanding of building cleaning practices and methods, be able to communicate effectively with other staff and be comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping tasks including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, bathroom cleaning, window washing, laundering, and other cleaning as needed.
• Prepping all lodging and facility spaces including stocking amenities and making beds.  
• Be respectful and welcoming to all Ho’okipa guests, visitors and other ‘Iole staff

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, climb ladders, and perform various types of labor in eight-hour shift
