General Maintenance Tech

JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Technician

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

We are looking for an organized and hardworking General Maintenance Technician to join our Team. You’ll be responsible for keeping our buildings and units in top condition. In addition to keeping the inside of the buildings in good repair, you will be expected to conduct unit turnovers. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, so our General Maintenance Technician needs to be hardworking, self motivated and willing to engage in different maintenance activities.

Responsibilities (Duties will include, but not limited to):

• Perform repair and/or general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, units and equipment including, but not limited to, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and paint.
• Repairing items/structures such as showers, sinks, toilets, faucets, carpets, tile, roof, doors and walls.
• Responds to and completes written work orders .
• Assists in moving equipment and furniture as needed.
• Handles unit turn-overs and makes unit ready for next occupancy.
• Ensures unit meets State and VA requirements.
• Responds to emergency calls from the site or Director.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Able to communicate effectively in both written and oral mediums
• At least 2 years general maintenance experience
• Have knowledge in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and paint.
• Knowledge of proper use of maintenance equipment
• Follows OSHA safety standards
• Able to prioritize tasks
• Capable of taking direction
• Self-starter with an ability to work with little or no supervision

Relationships

• Reports to the Director of Property Management
• Maintains good rapport with coworkers, on site staff and residents

Physical Requirements

May engage in the following:

• Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull 75 pounds.
• Climbing, ascending/descending ladders and stairs, in addition to using feet, legs, hands and/or arms.
• Mobility and body agility is important. Must be able to climb stairs.
