Hawaii Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Project Coordinator

$4,231 - $4,764 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience



The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate, implement, and lead the five-year, federally-funded grant project on the integration of SBIRT services within primary care settings statewide.  The position is responsible for monitoring and directing the daily operations of the grant, including directing program staff in both administrative and budgetary activities, to ensure compliance to grant regulations.  It serves as the primary communication link between Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) officials and the HI-SBIRT Project.



Minimum Qualifications


EDUCATION:  Minimum of Master’s degree in public health, health administration, human services, or healthcare related field of study.  Or, a Bachelor’s degree in related field:  and at least five (5) years of experience in direct behavioral healthcare delivery, collaboration, and coordination of services.


EXPERIENCE:  Not less than one and one-half (1 ½) years of progressively responsible general experience in social work, public health or other related fields which required knowledge of current social and economic conditions, community organizations and the services and/or programs they offer to the community relative to alcohol and drugs, the prevention of substance abuse and the treatment and rehabilitation of substance abusers.


Not less than one (1) year of specialized progressively responsible experience which demonstrated the ability to conduct studies and analyses of programs or projects through active participation in the planning, coordination, development and/or evaluation of programs and/or programs’ activities relative to alcohol and drugs, the prevention of substance abuse and the treatment and rehabilitation of substance abusers. 


LICENSE:  Possession of a valid Hawaii driver’s license is preferred.
