Essential Job Functions:

  1.  Plans and lays out work from drawings, blueprints, schematic diagrams, specifications, operating and service manuals, or from independently exercised evaluation of work requirements, using mathematics, judgment, and experience and following applicable codes and standards.
  2. Calculates and obtains relevant data and determines the necessary information required for the installation, operation, and maintenance of technically and economically optimum instrumentation and control system.
  3. Determines by tests and visual inspections the repairs, maintenance, replacements, etc. required to maintain operationally reliable systems including periodic preventive maintenance to minimize and prevent costly down time of the systems and processes.
  4. Locates and installs sensing, controlling, indicating, recording, etc., devices and equipment and the interconnecting wiring, tubing, piping, conduit, cables, etc., including support hangers.  Working from schematic drawings and control logic descriptions, under direction from engineer, programs control logic into controller.  Understand and uses programming unit in trouble shooting and maintaining programmable control systems.
  5. Services, repairs, maintains, calibrates, aligns, and checks all types of pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, mechanical instrumentation and control systems, scales, and inter-office communication equipment and systems.
  6. Reads operating and service manuals and instructions to learn the fundamental principles and operations of each control device and related equipment and their relationships and functions in control systems; and applies this knowledge in the performance of own work.
  7. Advises supervisor of required spare parts, and assists in the maintenance of spare parts inventory.
  8. Operates forklift to facilitate moving equipment, materials, personnel platforms, etc.
  9. Operates articulating boom and scissor lift to perform maintenance and installations of facility assets.
  10. Maintains work tools and equipment in safe working order.
  11. Coordinates, directs, and is responsible for the completion of work.
  12. Enters data for work performed in CMMS system.
  13. Performs related tasks as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  

High school graduate or equivalent.  5 years similar experience or 2 years trade school certificate combined with 3 years similar experience.  Certified forklift operator.  Certified articulating boom lift and scissor lift operator.  Performs the most difficult and highly skilled tasks associated with the trade.  Requires little or no supervision and is able to independently, through skill and experience, solve most problems related to work.  Completes work in substantially less than average time for the respective trade, and applies procedures and knowledge well.

 

  

Preferred Qualifications:

 

A.S. in Electronics/Instrumentation and 5 years similar experience.
